The agency noted that the properties were subject to final forfeiture orders, which are scattered across Nigeria. The EFCC instructed interested persons or corporate bodies to download the bid forms from its website.

Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has finalized plans to sell properties that have been seized through forfeiture orders. Applications are currently open, and those interested in applying have until January 9, 2023 to do so.

The properties include luxury apartments, plots of land and other real estate holdings in Nigeria.

The properties are located in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja. Others are scattered among plots of land that border the three states: Anambra, Ebonyi, Kaduna; Delta State; Edo and Gombe states and as well as in Oyo, Cross River and Osun states.

The auction is open to the public, but staff members and former targets of the EFCC investigation are barred from bidding on these properties. The agency has adopted a competitive bidding process for selling off seized assets

Applicants are required to download the bid forms and verifiable affidavits for persons and companies from the EFCC website. After filling them out, they should submit 10 per cent of their total bid in a certified bank draft payable to EFCC.

How To Apply For The Properties

If the amount bid is more than N10 million, multiple certified bank drafts should be provided and those of unsuccessful bidders will be repaid immediately after the bidding process ends.

In reports, it was stated that applicants who were successful would be required to pay a 90 per cent down payment and the outstanding balance within 15 working days.

People occupying the listed properties may have the right to purchase them if they can show that they are tenants with valid tenancy agreements, proof of rent payments and a complete Expression of Interest Form downloaded from EFCC's website.

The bids should be sealed and sent to the designated address. Bids will be accepted between January 9 and 13, 2023 at the Convocation Ground of National Open University of Nigeria, opposite EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
