Edo Police Train Officers on Weapon Handling Professionalism

The Edo State Police Command has commenced the training of men and officers of the command on weapon handling and other activities that would help them.

The Edo State Police Command has began the training of officers of the command on weapon handling and activities that would enhance their operational capacity.

The Commander Mopol 5, Benin, ACP Habib Rabiu, who is in charge of the training, said the exercise was to improve the capacity of the officers and professionalism in their day-to-day activities.

He hinted that, the training centres on physical training, hazard tactics and handling of arms, would strengthen the force in responding to problems, and also end accidental discharges.

He said, “To ensure effective weapon handling, the Edo state Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Dankwara,  announced personnel of the command should undergo the training so that when they go back to their stations, they would be able to guide their stations effectively and respond to distress calls professionally.”

“At the end of the training, the command wants to see changes in the trainees’ way of handling guns, combing the bush for criminals and other safety measures that would enhance police-community relationships.”

Subsequently, Chidi Nwabuzor, the command’s spokesperson, noted the command equally organized capacity workshops for senior officers with reference to police duty, law, relationship with the citizens, police informant and community.

Nwabuzor opine the workshop, which was organised by the command in partnership with the state criminal department, would improve the intelligence and capacity of the officers in relating with the masses.
