He emphasized that the military should not have a role in governing any country globally.

Oba Gbadebo made these remarks during an interactive session with reporters as part of his 80th birthday celebration activities scheduled to commence on Friday, September 8, 2023. He noted that the military's primary constitutional duty is to defend their nations from external threats, while governance should remain the domain of politicians.

He stated, "The military has constitutional roles to play, it is written in the constitution of every nation, and I will appeal to the military to keep to its constitutional role because governance is not the work of the military."

Oba Gbadebo also commended both federal and state governments for their efforts to maintain peace in the country. While acknowledging that security is a government's primary responsibility, he urged citizens to actively contribute to ensuring security by collaborating with security agencies and providing vital information when necessary.

He added, "It is only in a secured and peaceful state that businesses can thrive, and investors will be willing to invest."

Regarding his 80th birthday celebrations, Chief Oluyinka Kufile, the Aro of Egbaland, shared some of the planned activities. These include free health screenings and drug distribution for approximately 2000 indigenes of Abeokuta and its environs, free eye screenings and treatments for around 1000 individuals, and chieftaincy investitures to recognize contributions of prominent Egba sons and daughters.

Additionally, there will be visits to institutions such as the Daniel Akintonde School for the physically challenged, Stella Obasanjo Orphanage Home, the Lepers’ Colony, and Sacred Heart Hospital, among others. The celebration will feature Muslim prayers, a Catholic Mass, and an interdenominational church service. Furthermore, a significant aspect of the celebration involves the groundbreaking and foundation laying of the New Abeokuta City Hall.
