He explained how the Federal Government had resolved all legal entanglements that had slowed progress on construction of Ajaokuta Steel Complex.

He believes that this project will greatly benefit people in the state. The president had earlier hosted the leadership of FCT, as well as representatives from that region's community. At Christmas time they paid him their respects at his home in Abuja.

During his Christmas address, President Buhari praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Mohammed Bello for his transparency, honesty and integrity.

Mallam Bello's appointment to the position of FCT minister was a deliberate one, according to the President; he refused to redeploy him because of his good character.

He said that Bello had done a better job of managing both financial and human resources. Furthermore, Buhari told his guests that he would not be hanging around the FCT after May 29, 2023—in order to avoid meddling in the affairs of his successor's office.

He made it clear that he would return to his hometown of Daura, in Katsina State, Nigeria when he is done as president.

He felt that by not making Abuja his permanent home, he would leave room for the new government to operate without interference.

The president also assured members of the FCT community that he had not built a new house anywhere and hoped to continue living in his current home for many more years.

The president also inaugurated the Defense Intelligence Agency's new headquarters in Idu-Karmo, Abuja, on Wednesday.

Buhari's remarks at the event highlight a concern about how to accommodate an influx of new staffers and provide them with appropriate training before they can meet their productivity and coordination goals.

During his address to the security agencies, he also urged them to maintain a high level of professionalism during elections in 2023.

The president urged his agencies to handle the distribution and monitoring of classified materials, as well as other logistical matters ‘‘professionally and in accordance with Standing Operation Procedures.’’

In reiterating his earlier directive to security agencies not to interfere with the democratic process, the president said such behavior could bring disrepute both to their organizations and Nigeria as a whole.

On Wednesday, Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari congratulated the newly promoted commander of the Brigade of Guards in a public statement.

He praised him as a dedicated and talented officer, citing his long years of unwavering commitment to the nation. The president—accompanied by the Chief of Army Staff and Usman's wife—then pinned on Maj-Gen Iwaishahid a distinguishing insignia signifying his new rank.
