In a congratulatory message on Friday by his spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, President Muhammadu Buhari noted the contributions of former Inspector General to the repositioning of police during his leadership from 1990 to 1993.
Buhari expressed his appreciation for Atta's leadership and mentorship, which had inspired many young officers to pursue careers in public service.
He also recognized Atta’s extensive experience in security issues and the willingness to share that knowledge with people who were less experienced. As a former intelligence officer, he worked in many different states for 33 years.
