No fewer than Seven people tragically lost their lives on Saturday as a bus carrying them somersaulted and crashed at Okura in the Ankpa local government area of the State, as confirmed by the Kogi State Police Command.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) State Sector Commander Samuel Oyedeji had earlier confirmed that three people died in the collision; however, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP William Aya later, in a later statement on Saturday, stated that seven people had died.

"It was a lone fatal motor accident along Ankpa/Okura/Egume/Ayingba Road that involved a Toyota Hiace Bus," Aya said in his statement.

"The bus somersaulted into the bush at Okura, where the driver and six other passengers lost their lives," he claimed.

He was unable to confirm the victims' identities, but sources claimed they were Social Democratic Party (SDP) members traveling to Ayingba for a stakeholder meeting.

Faruk Adejo-Audu, the spokesperson for the SDP Governorship Campaign in the State, responded to a message by saying he was unaware of the accident but he would look into it and get back to our correspondent. Adejo-Audu had not yet done so, though, as of the time of this report.
