Media personality Toke Makinwa has criticized artist 2Baba for his public announcement regarding his separation and impending divorce from his wife, Annie Idibia.
In an Instagram post on January 26, 2Baba disclosed that he and Annie had been separated for some time and were in the process of filing for divorce, marking the end of their 12-year marriage.
Toke responded to 2Baba's video confession by stating, “This is wrong on all levels, and you should be ashamed of yourself for bringing this here. Bring it on. If you think she’s alone, let me tell you here that you’ll have to fight all of us.”
Further expressing her discontent, Toke took to her Instagram stories to address those who remained neutral on the situation. She asserted that silence in such matters could have repercussions for women in general, urging them to take a stand.
“No one is innocent, and if you want to bring the media into it, knowing what is happening, we would fight for her,” she stated.
In another post, Toke questioned 2Baba's choice to make the divorce public at this time. She underscored that while individuals are free to leave relationships that no longer serve them, the timing and manner of such announcements matter significantly. “We know what is going on behind closed doors... Timing is everything; empathy is everything,” she remarked.
