Darlington Okoye, widely known as Speed Darlington, has been released on bail after spending five days in police custody.

His release was confirmed by human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju, who noted that Okoye had been arrested in Lagos last Friday and subsequently transferred to Abuja.

The arrest stemmed from a formal complaint filed by Grammy Award-winning artist Burna Boy, who accused Okoye of defamation and cyberstalking. Adeyanju stated that the allegations were serious enough to warrant Okoye's detention in Abuja.

On Tuesday evening, Okoye was released to his lawyer after complying with the bail conditions set by the police. In a social media post, Adeyanju expressed gratitude to those who supported the effort for Okoye's release and praised the professionalism of the police involved in the case.

Following his release, a video surfaced in which Okoye challenged Burna Boy to clarify his Grammy win for the album "Twice As Tall," while also making controversial remarks about Burna Boy's association with U.S. rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs, who is currently facing legal issues related to sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

Additionally, reports indicate that Okoye's mother made a heartfelt plea for her son's release, urging Burna Boy to "tamper justice with mercy."
