The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced the fare for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, setting the cost at N8.7 million for intending pilgrims from Southern States and N8.3 million for those from Borno and Adamawa Zones.
This announcement was made by the Executive Chairman of NAHCON, Prof. Abdullahi Usman, through a statement issued by Mrs. Fatima Usara, the Assistant Director of Information and Publication, on January 20, 2025, in Abuja.
Prof. Usman further indicated that pilgrims from the Northern Zone will be required to pay N8.4 million. He emphasized that the fare structure results from extensive consultations with stakeholders and expressed gratitude for the support received from the Presidency and the Forum of Executive Secretaries of State Pilgrims Welfare Boards, Agencies, and Commissions.
The fare announcement follows an approval from the Office of the Vice President of Nigeria. Usman noted that efforts were made to keep the costs consistent with previous years, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity in decision-making processes regarding Hajj arrangements.
He urged prospective pilgrims to adhere to timelines and Saudi guidelines, highlighting the importance of early payments and timely registrations to avoid complications as the pilgrimage date approaches.
Additionally, he reminded intending pilgrims that last year's fare was significantly lower due to a government subsidy, which allowed many to pay N6.8 million for their pilgrimage.
