Isese Day: Oyo govt Declares Monday Public Holiday
A circular titled "Declaration of Holiday to Mark Traditional Religious Festivity in Oyo State," signed by Professor Olanike Adeyemo, the Secretary to the Oyo State Government, was issued on Friday, making the announcement.
The circular stated, "Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has generously approved August 20, 2023, and every year thereafter, as 'Isese Day' in Oyo State to honor the celebration of Traditional Religious festivity."
Consequently, Monday, August 21, 2023, has been declared the first-ever Public Holiday to mark this year's festivity in the state.
The circular also noted, "His Excellency has therefore requested that the occasion be used to pray for the peace, unity, and stability of the State in particular and the Country in general."
This decision followed the resolution of the Oyo State House of Assembly that designated August 20 for the Isese Day celebration. Governor Makinde further encouraged traditional worshippers within the state to utilize the event to offer prayers for the peace, unity, and stability of the state and the nation as a whole.
