Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has officially sanctioned a minimum initial deposit of N6.5 million for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage for intending pilgrims from the state.
This announcement was made through a press release issued on Tuesday by Muhammad Yunusa, the Information Officer for the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The collection of this deposit is set to commence on September 11, 2024. The board emphasized that this amount has been established in light of the increased costs associated with the 2024 Hajj fare, which has exceeded N8 million due to the devaluation of the naira against the dollar.
In the statement, Imam Abdurrahman encouraged intending pilgrims to consider paying above the minimum deposit, suggesting amounts ranging from N6.5 million to N8 million to facilitate easier settlement of the final fare when it is announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
The board has specified that all payments must be made through bank tellers, as cash payments will not be accepted.
Those wishing to perform Hajj through local governments are instructed to obtain a customized Hajj bank teller from the Hajj affairs officer at their local government secretariat. Additionally, the payment point for the board's pilgrims has been designated to Jaiz Bank.
Intending pilgrims are also urged to enrol in the Hajj Saving Scheme (HSS) at Jaiz Bank to assist in managing their payments effectively.
