The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) issued a dress code warning to corps members posted to Gombe State on Thursday.
Mr Ahidjo Yahaya, the scheme's Director, Northeast Area Office, issued the warning while visiting the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp in the Amada community of Gombe State's Akko Local Government Area.
Yahaya stated that he was at the camp to connect with the 2023 Batch 'B' Stream I corps members as well as camp authorities.
He stated that corps members has a responsibility to be good ambassadors both inside and outside of the camp, as well as role models to youths and children in their host communities.
“Today, I want to give a stern warning on improper use of the NYSC uniform; as corps members groomed and fully equipped for nation-building, you must be an example for the younger ones in the society.
“Whether on camp or at your various places of primary assignment, you must dress decently.“ he said.
Yahaya stated that the warning was issued to guard against any attempts by corps members to engage in actions that could result in punishment.
He further warned that anyone caught defying the scheme's dress code or the NYSC standards would face consequences.
“I advise you all to be disciplined in your conduct, embrace the dignity of labour, and adhere strictly to instructions while avoiding all forms of vices,” he said.
He praised the corps members on their good behaviour thus far on camp and urged them to maintain it when assigned to communities for their primary tasks.
