The incident came to light through a TikTok video shared by Grandma Shasha, who narrated the unfortunate story.

According to Grandma Shasha, the man had paid a hefty sum of N1.3 million to a travel agent for a flight from Lagos, Nigeria, to Toronto, Canada. Excited about his journey, the man arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, with his packed luggage, ready to embark on his new adventure.

However, as he attempted to board the flight, his dreams were abruptly dashed. Airport officials, upon thorough verification, found that the ticket he held was fraudulent. The devastating revelation left him unable to proceed with his travel plans.

The man had already bid farewell to his family, and the disappointment of being unable to board the plane was truly heart-wrenching. The travel agent, who had sold him the fake ticket, had assured him of its authenticity, leaving him with false hopes and shattered dreams.

Trusting the wrong channel for his ticket purchase, the man found himself stranded at the airport, unable to fulfill his dreams of starting a new life in Canada. The fraudulent travel agent had cunningly scuttled his journey and took away his hard-earned money.

Grandma Shasha said while sharing the story on Tiktok: "It’s a Barbie world indeed! The rise and rise of travel scams is bewildering, this agent provided a man with a ticket that doesn’t exist after collecting 1.3 million. So he has to wait and book another ticket."
