An unknown number of laborers were yesterday, caught in a seven-story building, which imploded in Banana Island, Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

Even though the cause of the collapse is still unknown, a source stated that concreting was taking place on the sixth floor prior to the incident. Meanwhile, the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) has arrived at the collapse site to conduct a rescue mission. Dr. Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, stated, "Confirming the incident The incident can be confirmed because the building has seven floors. I'm here with my men."
When asked for his opinion, Sola Odukoya, general manager of the Banana Island Property Owners & Residents Association, Lagos (BIPORAL), stated, I'll call you back as I'm working on something.
Nonetheless, the Lagos State government stated that it is conducting an investigation into the unapproved collapsed building.
In a statement, Mukaila Sanusi, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, stated that few injured individuals are receiving treatment. He stated, " There is no one killed. This unfortunate occurrence occurred while casting was being carried out.
Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, visited the location to assess the situation and initiate an investigation. As we learn more, we ask members of the public to remain calm and anticipate further information from the ministry,” he stated.
