Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has affirmed that his administration is enthusiastic about taking advantage of the golden opportunities provided by digital technology in managing the state’s economy.

Otti shared this information during a speech to participants in Study Group 7 of the National Institute's Senior Executive Course 46, who were visiting Abia State on a fact-finding mission.

He lauded the participants for choosing Abia for their visit and highlighted the importance of the study theme, "Digital Economy, Youth Empowerment, and Sustainable Job Creation in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges, and Opportunities." He stressed that any organisation neglecting the digital space risks being left behind.

The governor acknowledged his first year in office and stated that the groundwork is still being laid, especially for the digital economy. He assured the participants that within a year or two, upon their return, they would see the implemented initiatives and the positive impact of digital technology on Abia's economy.

Otti emphasised the state's dedication to equipping its workforce with the skills needed to thrive in the digital age. The governor stressed his commitment to preparing Abia workforce for the digital economy's opportunities.

He opined that the government was working to set up an innovation hub, a digital hub, and the Abia Innovation and Industrial Park, stating that Abia has keyed into the 3 million technical talent agenda of the Federal Government.

Governor Otti further stressed the relevance of the study theme, highlighting the global focus on technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics, electric vehicles, and driverless cars. He linked this trend to his own initiatives, pointing out the creation of the Ministry of Digital Economy and SMEs upon taking office, demonstrating his dedication to aligning Abia with this technological shift.
