Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday said his government was determined to fulfil the longings of Nigerians on transportation.

The President said this while launching 30 hybrid CNG buses offered by the Depots and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) to the Federal Government yesterday in Abuja.

"I am delighted to accept these buses on behalf of the government. They mark a major advancement in our transportation system. Switching our transportation industry to natural gas is the next way to go. To boost our economy, we need to be more efficient and creative in using our gas resources. Adopting CNG vehicles is essential for achieving this", he stated.

The President affirmed that he noted the longings of many ordinary Nigerians on transportation and appreciated INNOSON Motors and others who were dedicated to changing the story in the country’s transportation industry.

"If we can improve our energy rivalry and bring about altering changes like this, we will certainly be able to achieve the prosperity that we are working hard to achieve for our people. Countries such as India have directed the use of CNG for commercial vehicles since 2004, and in Nigeria, commercial vehicles make up about 80% of our petrol, costing us trillions of Naira each month. The answer is here. We have it; we will work on it. We assure you, certainly things will get better and prosperity will be achieved”, he said.

Mrs. Winifred Akpani, Chairman, DAPPMAN, said the hybrid buses were designed, manufactured, and delivered by INNOSON Motors, a Nigerian company based in Nnewi.

These are hybrid buses that will run on CNG. Each of these buses is capable of transporting 100 people, and they also have alternative uses of diesel.
