Following a tragic incident in Jos North LGA, Plateau State, where a farmer's son allegedly murdered a security guard, resulting in violent reprisals from the community, the Plateau State Police Command has launched an investigation.

The security guard, accused of stealing eggs from the poultry farm he was watching over, was allegedly beaten to death by the farmer's son, causing rage and resulting in the burning of the farmer's home and looting of his poultry farm.

The unrest began early Tuesday morning, when angry youths attacked Papa Ifeanyi's home, setting it on fire and looting his poultry farm. Eyewitnesses, including a resident Mrs. Janet Haruna, detailed the chain of events that led to the escalation of violence in the Angwa Rukuba Etoo Baba neighborhood. The incident has caused massive property damage as well as a distressed community looking for justice and reassurance.

Security personnel, including the Special Military Taskforce, were sent to the region in an effort to put an end to the unrest. A youth leader was reportedly hit by a stray bullet during chaos while trying to moderate the situation. This has further complicated the community's relationship with law enforcement, emphasising the urgent need for effective conflict resolution tactics in such sensitive situations.

The Plateau State Police Command, led by spokesperson Alabo Alfred, has launched an extensive investigation into the events that led to the death of the security guard and the ensuing violent reactions.
