Vandals destroyed two new reconstructed towers, T193 and T194, on the Damaturu-Maiduguri 330kV Single Circuit Transmission Line.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) claims that the event happened at about 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday night, creating a severe disruption in power delivery to Maiduguri and its environs.
According to the company, efforts to restore power by its engineers were foiled when attempts to close the Mulai-Damaturu line repeatedly failed.

Mrs Mbah, Ndidi Mbah GM, Public Affairs recalled that on December 28, 2023, towers T193, T194, and T195 were destroyed with similar locally-made explosives.

The vandalism attack on Tuesday affected two out of the towers in question, which were rebuilt after that incident.

According to her, TCN is presently examining the issue to determine the best method to ensure a temporary restoration of electricity while a contractor is mobilised to rebuild the two transmission towers.

”We will continue to do everything possible with the assistance of security operatives to protect our transmission towers, and we are also calling upon the government and well-meaning Nigerians to join in the fight against the destruction of our collective national assets,” Ndidi said in a statement.
