The Ebonyi State Ministry of Information and State Orientation is collaborating with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) State Accountability, Transparency and Effectiveness Activity (State2State) Nigeria to improve information management practices in the state.

The agency said that the partnership aims to promote efficiency and transparency in accordance with best standards of communication.

The disclosure was made at a three-day workshop hosted at the USAID State2State Office in Abakaliki by the communication specialist, Mrs. Nneka Egbuna, and the state commissioner for information and state orientation, Mr. Jude Okpor.

Speaking to the attendees, Mrs. Egbuna stated that among other things, the workshop's goal is to create a Standard Operating practice (SOP) that will help Area Information Officers (AIOs) and Public Relations Officers from different Ministries, Departments, and Agencies ensure effective and efficient information dissemination.

She mentioned that the PROs and AIOs had been facing difficulties up to this point, and she added that the issue had a significant negative impact on the professionalism and efficiency of information officers.

She asked the attendees to utilise the SOP carefully, and she urged the state administration to see to it that it is adopted as a functional document, saying that the fact that it will give Ministry of Information and State Orientation Information Officers the chance to carry out their duties in accordance with precise criteria is why it is significant.

During a keynote speech, the state commissioner for information and state orientation, who was represented by Mr. Egwu Anya Nkama, acting permanent secretary, praised the agency for its efforts in creating a setting that supports the officers of the Ministry of Information's professional growth.

He stated that information officers now have the exceptional chance to participate in the creation of the "Standard Operating Procedure," a document that will guarantee the effectiveness of information management, thanks to the workshop.
