Troops Dislodge Terrorists’ Enclave In Zamfara, Kill Insurgents

On Monday, April 15, 2024, Nigerian Army forces deployed for counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in the North West made a major inroad into terrorists' enclave in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, destroying the camp and exterminating the militants.

Troops carried out a targeted clearance operation to eliminate the suspected terrorists' operating base in the town of Maru based on solid intelligence about their operations. In a fierce gun fight with the terrorists, the gallant soldiers killed 12 terrorists, forcing others to flee.

The soldiers also recovered one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, 12 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, and two locally made guns. In addition, the soldiers recovered 10 operational motorbikes used by the terrorists for movement, and 18 rustled cows.

According to the army, this development demonstrates the dedication of its troops in the battle against terrorism and insurgency.
The Nigerian Army, through its spokesperson, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, stated that it is dedicated to safeguarding the safety and security of residents and would continue to take decisive measures to combat terrorist activities in the region.

General Nwachukwu also stated that the army has resolved to maintain momentum in the current operations to cleanse the North West and other difficult regions of terrorism and insurgency.
