President Bola Tinubu has emphasized the importance of supporting made-in-Nigeria products and services to sustain the recent gains of the naira in the foreign exchange market.
He stressed that despite the recent appreciation of the naira against the dollar, challenges persist, requiring collaborative efforts from citizens.
Tinubu's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, conveyed these messages, highlighting the administration's initiatives such as discontinuing petrol subsidies and unifying foreign exchange rates.
Ngelale underscored the need for citizens to blow the whistle on practices undermining the local currency and emphasized the importance of a stronger naira in complementing the new minimum wage.
He outlined Tinubu's interventions to strengthen the naira, including collaboration with the Central Bank and measures to curb sharp practices in the currency market.
Additionally, Ngelale discussed the administration's efforts to reduce wasteful spending, such as imposing a three-month ban on publicly-funded foreign trips and reviewing the pay structure of judicial officers.
He also detailed various support programs for businesses, including conditional grants and low-interest loans, aimed at mitigating the economic challenges faced by micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises.
Tinubu's administration is prioritizing interventions to support industries and manufacturing companies to safeguard employment opportunities and stimulate economic growth.
