Tinubu, not T-pain, he's Working to Ease Nigerians’ Pains— Onanuga

The Presidential spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is very aware of the challenges Nigerians face, countering allegations that the President is unconcerned with citizens’ suffering.

Onanuga, while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics yesterday, dismissed social media nicknames labelling President Tinubu as “T-pain” as improper, reiterating that the President is dedicated to turning Nigeria’s economic fortunes around.

“President Tinubu feels the pain of Nigerians and promises them that relief is on the horizon.

“Some have turned to calling him ‘T-pain’ out of naughty behaviour, but President Tinubu is not that. He’s here to restore, not to hurt,” the presidential spokesperson affirmed.

Onanuga’s reaction follows complaints that have harshly criticised Tinubu's economic improvements, especially the removal of petrol subsidies and forex integration.

These have driven sharp increases in the cost of food, fuel, and other essentials, sparking widespread frustration among citizens.

However, the presidential spokesperson claimed that the plans are aimed at “restoring the economy” rather than causing an economic downturn.

“Tinubu has never shunned acknowledging that Nigerians are going through difficult times. He is working relentlessly to provide relief and make sure that the country moves towards a future of prosperity,” he stressed.

In spite of the challenges of high inflation and rising living costs, Onanuga affirmed that the administration is seeing signs of economic growth and increased revenues, which he claims point to a brighter economic future.

In recent months, citizens have taken to the streets to protest the government's economic policies, which have hit the middle class.

Onanuga, however, claimed that the present government remains firm, viewing the reforms as important steps toward lasting growth.
