Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have taken over control of the security at the main palace of the Emir of Kano, displacing the local hunters who had been protecting the reinstated Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Following reports of the possible forceful return of Aminu Ado-Bayero, the deposed 15th Emir, the hunters, known as "Yan Tauri," had set up camp at the palace since last month.

The protection of the palace is currently under the authority of security officers, according to our local correspondents.

Meanwhile, Emir Aminu Ado-Bayero remains under protection at the Nasarawa mini palace.

Despite an eviction notice from the Kano State government after a court ruling last Thursday, both palaces continue their traditional activities without interruption.

AIG Usaini Gumel, the outgoing Commissioner of Police in Kano, responded to the development by confirming that additional security personnel have been sent to the palaces of the two contending emirs.

He claims that the deployment aims to prevent security threats and maintain a peaceful atmosphere pending the outcome of the emirship tussle.

Gumel explained that armed and equipped men have been stationed in the designated areas to deal with any unforeseen circumstances.
