Naziru Idris Ya'u, a journalist and correspondent for Abubakar Rimi Television stationed at the Kano State Government House, narrowly escaped death on Friday evening when he was hit by a stray bullet on the premises.

The facts surrounding the stray bullet that struck the journalist at about 6:30 p.m. remain unclear as both security personnel and Government House authorities have declined to comment on the incident.

Following the incident, Nazir Ya'u was quickly taken to the Government House clinic, where medical personnel treated his injuries.

Medical professionals at the facility stated that the reporter was fortunate since the gunshot did not come from close range. In reaction to the incident, police officers stationed at the Government House launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting. Despite ongoing inquiry, neither the Kano Government House nor the State Police Command have released an official statement about the event.
Attempts to contact the Director General of Media and Publicity, Sanusi Tofa, were unsuccessful because he rejected several phone calls from journalists seeking information.

When asked to react, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Police Command, SP Haruna Abdullahi, said that the event had not yet been reported to the command, suggesting a lack of formal communication concerning the matter.
