Senator Dicket Plang, who represents Plateau Central and Chairman, Senate Committee on Labour and Productivity, has hinted that the National Assembly will introduce legislation to protect protesters from abuse while also holding them accountable for any damages caused during protests.

In an exclusive interview with newsmen, Senator Plang addressed the latest reports of looting and violence during the #EndBadGovernance protests that have swept the country.

He explained that the proposed law would require protest organisers to be formally identified and to educate participants about the goals of the protests. This approach aims to keep people from using protests for criminal purposes.
Senator Plang also addressed the fundamental causes of the protests, which included inflation, an economic downturn, higher customs taxes, and a lack of secure farming conditions. He said that the National Assembly intends to allocate more funds for enhanced agricultural subsidies for farmers and to develop policies to encourage entrepreneurship among Nigerian youths.

Senator Plang assured the public that their issues are being taken seriously and that the 10th Senate is attentive to the demands of the citizens.
