Senate Passes Bill to Boost South-West Infrastructure

The Senate has approved the South-West Development Commission Bill, 2024, in order to quicken action on the infrastructural improvement of the zone.

This was after the bill was read and approved for a third reading. The third reading followed the deliberation and acceptance of the bill’s suggestion by all Senators present during the plenary.

Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Barau Jibrin, who led the plenary session, lauded the Senate Committee on Special Duties for its quick statutory work on the details of the bill.

Jibrin said, “I appreciate the committee for their excellent work, specifically the Chairman, Kaka Shehu Lawan.

“I say keep up the good work to the chairman, and I also appreciate members of the committee for working relentlessly during this assignment.

“The bill will help to deal with the infrastructure and ecological challenges of the Southwest.

“When that zone is developed, it will also benefit the entire nation.

We appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving assent to similar bills earlier passed by the National Assembly, and we look forward to his approval of the South-West Development Commission Bill.”
