The Lagos State Government has expressed gratitude to protesters for their peaceful demonstration and their decision to conclude their action following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's recent address.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended the protest leaders, stating, “Your decision to halt the protest today clearly shows that your collective voice has been acknowledged by the government. This action is both commendable and a testament to civility.”

In a move to reinforce the government's commitment to engaging with the youth, Governor Sanwo-Olu has mandated that dialogue and discussions be initiated prior to the protests continuing.

He has instructed the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, the Ministry of Information and Strategy, and the Office of Civic Engagement to expand communication channels with various stakeholders, including protest leaders.

To facilitate this engagement, the Executive Council members overseeing these ministries can be contacted via dedicated Citizens Access Lines:

Office of Civic Engagement: +234 802 522 4347

Ministry of Information & Strategy: +234 811 965 788

Ministry of Youth & Social Development: +234 707 717 8295

Governor Sanwo-Olu also urged citizens to remain vigilant against misinformation and divisive tactics, emphasizing that such actions do not reflect the values of Lagos.

He commended the professionalism of security agencies, including the Police Command, Department of State Services, military, Civil Defence, and Neighborhood Watch, for their roles in maintaining peace.

In addition, he acknowledged the contributions of traditional rulers, civil society organizations, community leaders, religious figures, and student leaders in ensuring that the city remained calm.
