The Minister of Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has debunked claims that the government directed the telecom companies to encroach with network services during the planned nationwide protests.
Among reports of sluggish internet speeds from subscribers of MTN, Airtel, and other networks, there were assumptions that the government might have directed telecom operators to interrupt services to hamper the protests.
Tijani, however, reported on Channels TV that there was no order given to interfere with phone networks.
Tijani said: “There is no directive to interfere with (phone) networks.”
Recall that on Thursday, Tijani criticised the plundering of the National Communication Commission's (NCC) edifice in Kano State.
He affirmed that it would be a hindrance to the federal government’s efforts at supporting youth employment through technology.
