The Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has condemned recent attacks on mosques and churches during protests as shameful by criminals to hide under the guise of protest and attack mosques and churches.
Musa criticised those who damaged religious buildings and reaffirmed that the military would not allow further acts of destruction by the criminals, as was done in Kano, Kaduna, and other places.
He said in an interview with journalists on Tuesday that the Nigerian military values democracy and shall protect it.
Those hoisting flags of other nations in Nigeria were not doing the right. It is unjust,” he reiterated.
The Defence Chief stated that they have been closely monitoring the police's handling of the situation and would not idly stand by and allow the situation to deteriorate.
