The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a police officer for not acting professionally when addressing a female traffic offender. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), revealed this in a statement on Friday.

The statement claims that while the officer showed restraint most of the time throughout the altercation, there were a few instances in which he let his feelings cloud his judgement. He continued by saying that the officer has been detained pending proper disciplinary actions.

The incident was documented in a viral video shared on social media.

The PPRO, who took to his X handle, stated that, a police officer is supposed to show extreme discretion in the face of provocation. This is undoubtedly a teaching opportunity for officers and personnel of the Force.

“While we continue to train our men to be as professional as possible, while not sparing any officer who clearly acts unprofessionally, we urge the citizenry to strive to maintain decorum in their dealings with security agencies.” he said.

However, Aderele Aisha the female traffic offender, who drove against traffic, has subsequently apologised for her acts via a written apology.
