The Lagos State Police Command said an investigation into the death of a man who was discovered unconscious in the Victoria Garden City area of the state has begun.

The Command's spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced this on his X account on Saturday responding to a tweet by X user @dejilambo stating that Gihan Mbelu, 42, had passed away after being discovered unconscious in his C300 4Matic automobile.

According to the post, Mbelu was discovered unconscious on Friday morning at 10:10 am when someone went to check on his car, which had been running for hours at its location near VGC in Ajah.

While some assumed that Mbelu, 42, might be asleep, others, determined to find out the truth about his condition, reportedly tried to wake him up, however, their attempts were unsuccessful.

One of the medical professionals who attended to him at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital declared him dead, and his remains have been placed in the mortuary.

Meanwhile, the case has been reported to the police for an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding Mbelu’s death.
