

The Osun State Police Command On Wednesday announced that six suspects had been apprehended for allegedly robbing a driver in the state of a Mercedes Benz at gunpoint.
According to a statement obtained in Osogbo from the spokesperson for the Osun police command, Yemisi Opalola, four of the suspects—Ibrahim Yusuf (24), Lawal Abubakar (25), Umar Abubakar (35), and Sule Muhammed (20)—were arrested with the victim's stolen vehicle.
However, Opalola stated that the stolen vehicle was received by Salisu Ismail, a 31-year-old, and Habeeb Saidu, a 27-year-old.
She added, "The complainant reported at Gbongan Division on 15 June 2023 at approximately 0630hrs that, at approximately 0100hrs of same date, he picked four (4) passengers from Opic Park, Ogun State heading to Abuja with unregistered Mercedez Benz car." However, when they reached a location within Ikire's jurisdiction, the passengers compelled him to stop and began shooting to frighten him.
"While battling with them, he was wounded with a blade at his left hand, pushed out of the vehicle and suspects disappeared with the said 4matic Benz vehicle. He also emphasized that; If he sees the suspects, he can identify them. Gbongan was alerted as soon as the police received the report, but when the suspects saw the team of policemen conducting a stop and search along the Ibadan/Ile-Ife expressway, they abandoned the car and fled into the bush.
"The police did not rely on his oars; sifted through the woods where two of the suspects were detained. The Anti-Kidnapping Squad's efforts resulted in the arrest of four additional suspects in Lagos State.
Opalola stated that operatives also arrested three suspects, Akano Olasunkanmi (20), Monsuru Ali (25), and Tunde Alabi (42), for alleged unlawful firearms possession. These arrests were among the command's other recent successes.
