The Ondo State Police Command has brought Adeniyi Atinuke and Ade-Ojo Isaac before a Chief Magistrate Court in Akure in connection with the demise of socialite Mr. Oladoyinbo Adebayo, popularly known as Say Bayo.

The deceased was discovered in his car on December 10, 2023, at Ijapo Estate, Akure, leading to the subsequent arrest and court charges against the defendants. They were formally arraigned in court on Friday.

The duo faces an accusation of committing a felony, specifically "perversion of justice," which is an offense under section 126 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol.1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

In the prosecution's statement, Atinuke is accused of "becoming an accessory after the fact" in relation to Oladoyinbo Sunday Adebayo's death, alias Say Bayo, contravening the Criminal Code Cap.37 Vol.1 Law of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges presented against them.

Upon withdrawing the application, Mr. A.O Afolabi, the counsel to the first defendant (Adeniyi Atinuke), submitted a bail application and assured the court of her consistent presence on adjournment dates.

Similarly, Mr. Stephen Ademuagun, counsel to the second defendant, presented a bail application for his client, pledging the defendant's adherence to bail conditions. The prosecutor did not oppose the bail applications.

Chief Magistrate Damilola Sekoni adjourned the matter to January 29, 2024, to rule on both bail applications.
