The Kaduna State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspected street gang members who are reported to be terrorizing residents of the Basawa Area of Sabon Gari, Zaria LGA.

ASP Mansir Hassan, the command's Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest to journalists on Wednesday in Kaduna.

According to Hassan, the suspects were captured on Tuesday at 1600 hours.

He stated that, at about 1600 hours, while conducting a routine patrol, the operatives apprehended three suspects—Muhammad Ahmed, Shamsu Abdullahi, and Hussaini Aliyu—who were all from Zaria City and the vicinity of Mammy Market in the Basawa area.

According to Hassan, three razor-sharp stainless steel cutlasses and a single, sharp knife hidden beneath the suspects' clothing were found when a spot search was carried out on them.

The PPRO stated that during interrogation, the suspects failed to explain what they were doing with the deadly weapons discovered on them.

Investigative work done by the operatives, according to Hassan, showed that the suspects belonged to a syndicate that had been intimidating the locals in Basawa and the surrounding areas.

He claimed that the three suspects were quickly charged to court after these discoveries.
