Mr Peter Obi, Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 general election has issued a withering criticism of the current killings of officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army in Okuama community, Delta State.

According to a press release made available via his verified Twitter handle, the LP presidential candidate relates the violence as “barbaric” and “totally unacceptable,” calling for immediate action to address the rocketing security situations in the country.

Peter Obi, has joined the chorus of voices condemning the wave of violence afflicting Nigeria, specifically the current attacks targeting security personnel. In a strongly worded statement, the LP presidential candidate demonstrated great concern over the murder of 22 officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army in Okuama community, Delta State, and relates the incidents as tragic and disgraceful.

Obi calls attention to the grim reality facing Nigeria, citing a string of violent incidents, including the reported killing of many policemen in Delta State just a week prior. He stressed the important role played by security personnel in protecting communities and called for harmony in the face of such acts of brutality.

Expressing empathy towards the families of the fallen security personnel, Obi emphasized the need for adequate compensation, healthcare, and welfare packages for those wounded or killed in the line of duty. He advised Nigerians to rally behind the families of the victims and provide support during these trying times.

Similarly, he urged the government and security agencies to launch a comprehensive investigation to identify and arrest the perpetrators of the attacks. He stressed the importance of holding accountable those responsible for such heinous acts and ensuring that justice is served.
