Oyo State Workers Shut Down State Secretariat, Demand Palliatives

On Monday, workers of Oyo State closed the state secretariat complex in Ibadan and demanded for Palliatives, an increase in pension allowances, and payment of salary deductions.

Workers and pensioners took part in the protest under the flags of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), and its affiliates.

Workers, led by their union officials, are also calling for the payment of leave bonuses, the release of promotion letters for the years 2021 and 2022, and the payment of gratuities to retirees who have not received wages since the year 2021.

At the time this article was being written, no representative of the government had yet to address the protesting workers.
