Oyebanji, Fayemi, Ekiti APC Mourns The Death Of George Akosile

Gov Oyebanji Described the deceased as a leader he admired as a young politician and he had lost a father figure in politics whose example will serve as an inspiration to him and future generations.

The governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has sent his condolences on the loss of Chief George Akosile, an Afenifere chief and head of the Ekiti State APC Elders' Forum.

Ondo State's former permanent secretary who later served as state chairman of the Alliance for Democracy, the late Chief Akosile, who was 88 years old, passed away on Friday.

According to a statement from the Governor by his special media adviser, Yinka Oyebode, “Ekiti has lost a great patriot, a servant-leader, a committed democrat and an illustrious elder, who loved the state and gave his best for its development”.

Akosile's death was characterized as "a significant loss to Ekiti State and the entire country" by the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, who expressed deep sorrow at the news.

Fayemi, In a statement of sympathy released by the head of the Fayemi media office, Mallam Ahmad Sajoh stated: “Chief Akosile was not just any politician to me, he was a leading light of the progressive movement in the old Ondo State, now comprising Ondo and Ekiti states. A close ally and wise adviser. Baba was someone who showed unwavering commitment and selflessness to our cause”.

In addition, the APC in the state said that with the passing of Chief Akosile on Friday, it had lost a political titan.

On behalf of the State Chairman, Paul Omotoso, and other executive members, APC State Publicity Secretary Segun Dipe made the following declaration: “Pa Akosile is leaving us at a time when we need him most. We are not just losing an elder party man, but one whose contribution is seemly indispensable.”

“Even in his frailty, Pa Akosile was there for us and we kept drinking from his well of wisdom until he breathed his last. He was the chairman of our party’s Elders’ Forum and recently, Governor Oyebanji appointed him to chair the committee on appointment into the state’s executive council with the committee doing a faultless job,” Dipe stated
