Governor Alex Otti of Abia State inaugurated a batch of six new commissioners on Thursday to organise and complement the State Executive Council. This is barely three months after three commissioners stepped down from his cabinet.
The newly inaugurated commissioners are: Mr. David U. Kalu, Kingsley Chibueze Nwokocha, Professor Ogbonnaya Uche, Mrs. Queen Ijeoma Aghukwa, Dr. Uwaoma Ukandu, and Ubochi Goodluck Chinedu.
Speaking to the just appointed commissioners after they had been administered with the oaths of office and loyalty by the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mr. Ogubunka, Otti advised them to contribute to his development agenda for the good of Abia State. He also urged them to deliver results and emphasised that mediocrity would not be accepted.
“We have mindfully selected these highly skilled individuals to bring new concepts and energy to our team. The new nominations and selection were made according to our agenda to create a robust architecture that supports excellent service delivery.”
“As I stated on this podium a few weeks ago, productive leadership is an exercise in uninterrupted team building, finding the right people, and positioning them where they are best suited to succeed. The job of public sector governance is a huge one that demands having the right people on board in the right positions to drive the central plan of the administration across many important borderers.”
“One of the major symbols of our government is going against practices that have proven to curb development and dynamism. We have publicly denied the traditional employment pattern of filling strategic government offices with crew who do very little in terms of the implementation of governance businesses,” Gov. Otti affirmed.
He cautioned the new appointees that there is no room for internal conflicts, noting that his government has zero tolerance for corruption and any act capable of bringing the government into dishonour.
