The Osun State Police Command has cautioned residents rearing dogs, advising them to ensure that they keep their pets within a confined area to prevent them from attacking people, as failing to do so constitutes an offence.

According to the command's spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, there has been a rise in incidents of attacks on people by dogs in recent times.

The command recommends that dog owners restrain their pets in their houses in cages or put them on leashes to minimize such attacks.

Additionally, owners are urged to vaccinate their dogs to lower the risk of contracting rabies virus in case of bites.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Abba, advises adherence to the Dog Acts Cap 35 Law of the Federation of Nigeria, emphasizing the responsibility of dog keepers to ensure vaccination and control to prevent attacks on passersby.
