The Osun State Police Command has apprehended three suspected cult members in connection with the kidnapping and murder of two individuals.
The suspects, identified as Olabode Owoeye (32), also known as Bode Itaapa; Mukaila Lateef (45); and David Samuel (26), were found in possession of pump-action guns and a Beretta pistol at the time of their arrest.
SP Yemisi Opalola, the command's spokeswoman, reported that residents had informed the Iperindo Police Station about the disappearance of two men, Kelechi Agha and Tega Robinson, who went to a mining site and had not returned since February 8, 2024.
According to Opalola, credible intelligence indicated that members of the Aye confraternity were seen carrying weapons openly on the same day. Further investigation revealed that a politician had issued orders to the gang through another cultist, Adefioye Solomon, known as Solo Iwara, who is already on the police's wanted list for multiple murders in the Ilesha area.
During an interview with journalists at the police headquarters in Osogbo, the suspects admitted to the crimes.
Additionally, the police recovered an unregistered TVS motorcycle, charms, and a black unregistered Toyota Highlander from the suspects.
