In a bid to alleviate the impact of skyrocketing food prices across Nigeria, Ebu Alawe, a village in Daarul-hijrah, Iwo Local Government Area, Osun State, has launched Nigeria’s first Islamic market, Mufty Market.
It was reported that the establishment of the Mufty Market aims to provide relief to Nigerians facing increased economic hardship due to rising food costs.
Announcing the market's opening on Friday, the management shared the prices of various staples. A congo of garri is sold for N900, a congo of rice for N2,600, maize for N1,100, 'elubo lafun' (cassava flour) for N800, and groundnuts for N750, among others.
This initiative seeks to offer more affordable options for essential food items, providing much-needed relief for the local community.
