The Ondo State House of Assembly has successfully screened and confirmed five out of the six nominees submitted by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for commissioner positions.

According to reports, Governor Aiyedatiwa presented the names to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation on February 2.

The confirmed nominees include Olukayode Ajulo, Razaq Obe, Emmanuel Igbasan, Akinwumi Sowore, and Oseni Oyeniyi. However, Omowumi Isaac, the sixth nominee, was not available for the screening process.

Chairman of the selection committee, Abayomi Akinruntan, presented the committee's report to the assembly on Tuesday, affirming that the nominees met the necessary academic qualifications and were deemed physically and mentally fit for the role of commissioners. He therefore recommended their confirmation to the assembly.

In response, a member of the house, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, moved a motion for the confirmation of the nominees, which was seconded by Felix Afe, representing Akoko North-West Constituency II.

Speaker Olamide Oladiji commended the committee for their thorough assessment and adherence to the law in the confirmation process.

He expressed confidence in the competence of the nominees to serve the state and urged them to collaborate with the governor to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

Oladiji further encouraged the commissioner-designates to exhibit diligence in their service delivery and contribute to the progress and development of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the confirmed nominees, Emmanuel Igbasan expressed gratitude to the assembly and pledged their commitment to supporting the governor in achieving significant milestones for the state.
