Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, former National President of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing, has refuted demanding money from Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
At a meeting of the National Executive Council in Enugu, Ohanaeze Ndigbo's leader, Iwuanyanwu, announced the organisation's decision to report dissident groups led by Okechukwu Isiguzoro, who claims to be the secretary general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, to the Imeobi.
Iwuanyanwu also noted that he had called Isiguzoro and advised him, but he allegedly requested a huge sum of money and hasn’t discontinued issuing statements to counter Ohanaeze’s positions on issues.
Reacting to Iwuanyanwu’s accusations that he requested money from him to step down as the factional Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Isiguzoro relates the statement as one meant to give a dog a bad name to hang it.
He said the PG has continued to shy away from problems that would have brought peace to Ohanaeze, Ndigbo, and Igbo land.
He challenged Iwuanyanwu to provide details of the alleged court order that restrained him and Engr. Chidi Ibe as the President General and Secretary General of the organisation.
Isiguzoro revealed that they were in court with the late president general, Prof. George Obiozor, but the court threw away the matter after Obiozor’s death.
In response, Isiguzoro denied Iwuanyanwu's accusation of demanding money to resign as Secretary General. He said, This is akin to giving a dog a bad name to hang it. However, he stressed that he respects Iwuanyanwu's seniority but feels compelled to address this serious matter. Isiguzoro challenged Iwuanyanwu to provide evidence of the alleged demand, specifying whether it happened in person, over the phone, or through text message. He urged Iwuanyanwu to obtain call records or text transcripts from service providers if the claim is based on communication.
Isiguzoro also noted that Iwuanyanwu has continued to shy away from addressing the problems of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
