The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun corps, has apprehended 67 men suspected of involvement in kidnapping and various other criminal activities across the state.

Working in collaboration with the Police, the Army, Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Amotekun corps conducted operations resulting in the arrests over the past two weeks.

Commander Adetunji Adeleye, while presenting the suspects at the command headquarters in Akure, confirmed that many had been identified by their victims, linking them to the crimes.

The arrests were made as part of the Operation Ember Months initiative.

The suspects were involved in activities ranging from kidnapping to housebreaking, robbery, and murder, with some possessing weapons.

Adeleye highlighted that three of the suspects had escaped from prison in Benin, Edo State, while facing criminal charges.

One claimed to have abandoned his involvement in kidnapping, while another confessed to being part of a larger kidnapping syndicate.

Adeleye emphasized that the parading of suspects sends a strong message to criminals that Ondo State will not tolerate their activities.

He urged residents to report any suspicious individuals or activities to security agencies, reaffirming the commitment of the Amotekun corps to ensuring the safety and stability of the state for socio-economic activities.
