Just one day after Usman Baba Alkali, the Inspector General of Police, transferred the Adamawa State Police Commissioner, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, summoned Muhammad Bello, the state Commandant, to the Corps' Abuja headquarters.

Bello is required to give an account of his involvement in Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the state's suspended resident electoral commissioner, who attempted to unilaterally declare Aisha Dahiru Binani, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governor-elect on Sunday.

“Given the controversy surrounding the just concluded Adamawa State governorship rerun election where the Corps was alleged of complicity along with other security agencies, the Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, OFR, has summoned the State Commandant, Muhammad Bello, to the Corps’ National Headquarters, Abuja”, Commandant Olusola Odumosu, director of public relations at the regular NSCDC Headquarters, said.

According to him, the CG instructed the State Commandant to immediately transfer control of the Command's affairs to his immediate subordinate to give him time to explain his involvement in the exercise to the Corps' administration.

Dr Audi emphasized that the NSCDC is a non-partisan, non-political organization that will not tolerate any of its members participating in political conflicts, contrary to what has been widely claimed.

“I have summoned the State Commandant to National Headquarters to face the management team and explain himself in clear terms.

“I have ordered him to hand over the Command to his immediate deputy because his role in the rerun election is currently being investigated and if he is found culpable, then he will have himself to blame,” CG said
