NSCDC Captures Suspected Kidnapper in Kwara State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kwara State reported the apprehension of a suspected kidnapper in Isale Asa, Opomalu area, Ilorin.

The 37-year-old suspect was arrested around 1 pm on January 11, 2024, while attempting to abduct schoolchildren returning from school.

According to the Command, the suspect initially claimed to have approached the children for assistance in obtaining dry fish.

However, a discreet investigation revealed that he forcibly diverted the children from their usual route, indicating an attempted kidnapping. The Command stated that the suspect would face charges in a court of competent jurisdiction.

In a separate incident, the state sector command disclosed the arrest of two individuals involved in the alleged production and sale of expired energy drinks. The suspects were accused of printing fake expiry dates on expired energy drinks, deceiving unsuspecting consumers.

Commandant Umar Mohammed, while parading the suspects, stated that they were apprehended by the anti-vandal unit of the command at the Amilegbe area beside Ipata Market in Ilorin. The arrests followed an intelligence tip-off.

Represented by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Michael, Commandant Umar Mohammed mentioned, “On interrogation, Anafi (one of the suspects) confessed that he started the illicit business with Mrs. Susan (another suspect) who has been the business owner since 2023 when she contacted him to work for her with the promise of a handsome reward. He revealed that they were actually into the business of printing fake expiry dates on Vita Milk Energy products.”
