In an announcement made by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the NPA has made a significant contribution of N200 million to support victims of recent devastating floods in Borno State.
On Friday, the cheque was presented to Borno State Governor in Maiduguri by three key officials: Ibrahim Umar, Executive Director of Engineering & Technical Services; Ms. Vivian Edet, Executive Director of Finance & Administration; and Olalekan Badmus, Executive Director of Marine & Operations.
Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of the NPA, expressed the agency's solidarity with the people of Borno during this challenging time, which has led to significant loss of life and disruption to communities.
He stated, "As a token of support for your disaster relief efforts, the Nigerian Ports Authority, under the guidance of the Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola, hereby donates the sum of N200 million to aid efforts at stabilizing the victims as quickly as possible."
The floods have had a devastating impact which has displaced approximately 414,000 individuals and resulted in at least 30 fatalities in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, as reported by earlier.
