The FCT Chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has called on President Bola Tinubu to address the issues that triggered recent nationwide protests.

In an interview with Journalists on Monday, Dr. Charles Ugwuanyi, the chairman of the association, emphasized that hunger, driven by rising food costs, is severely affecting Nigerians.

He stated, “We urge the president to create a more favorable economic environment so that Nigerians can afford food.”

Ugwuanyi also highlighted the need for Tinubu to reassess the country’s security situation, which he described as being impacted by various factors.

He remarked, “President Tinubu’s efforts to resolve the nation’s challenges have resulted in significant hardship for many citizens. Despite these efforts, hunger and difficult living conditions persist, leading to public unrest.”

The chairman noted that the current economic climate has compelled many to view protests as a necessary means of expressing their frustrations, which poses a risk to national security.

Ugwuanyi stressed the urgency for the government to fulfill its responsibilities and alleviate hunger.
