DSC Ibrahim Rabiu Muti, spokesman for the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), was allegedly attacked by suspected hoodlums while riding in a tricycle the Gbeganu area of Minna.
The incident took place around 8 PM last Friday as Muti was on his way home from work. According to reports, he was stabbed twice in the stomach during the assault.
Muti confirmed the attack, stating that a group of about nine individuals set upon him after two men emerged from a nearby bush and halted the tricycle he was in, pretending to board as passengers. “They stabbed me and took my phone and other belongings. They were armed with knives, cutlasses, daggers, and sticks,” he said.
He added that one of the attackers noticed his uniform trousers, mistaking him for a soldier, which ultimately led them to leave him behind with his injuries. “My uniform trousers saved me,” he remarked, noting that other passengers had already exited the tricycle, leaving only him and the driver when the attack occurred.
Muti has since been discharged from the hospital and is recuperating at home
