NDLEA Seizes 5,344kg of Imported Skunk in Lekki Operation

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully intercepted two shipments of Loud weighing a total of 5,344.1 kilograms along the Epe-Lekki corridor and Alfa Beach in Lagos State.

Acting on reliable intelligence, NDLEA operatives set up an ambush along the Epe-Lekki expressway in the early hours of Monday, June 19th. They apprehended a white truck transporting 50 large bags of the illegal substance, totaling 2,434.1kg. The driver of the truck managed to escape in a security hilux van accompanying the vehicle, but the narcotics officers effectively immobilized the truck.

The following day, on Tuesday, June 20th, officers from the Marine Command of the agency intercepted a boat carrying an additional 2,910kg of the same imported substance at Alfa Beach, after it arrived from Ghana. Two individuals, Monday Saba (30) and Hakeem Kwana (27), were arrested in connection with the consignments.

In Niger State, on Sunday, June 18th, two suspects, Abubakar Mohammed (32) and Nuhu Sale (43), were apprehended along the Abuja expressway in Suleja. They were found in possession of 31 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 517kg. In Kogi State, on Wednesday, June 21st, a 30-year-old woman named Amina Alilu was arrested with 171kg of the substance in Ogbogodo village, Dekina LGA.

An alleged impersonator, Ogedegbe Dorcas (34), posing as a female security agent, was arrested on Thursday, June 22nd, at Ajegunle Asa Dam Area in Ilorin, Kwara State, with 30kg of cannabis. Furthermore, in Oyo State, NDLEA operatives seized 49.2kg of the same substance from Segun Olajide (42) in Oyo town on Saturday, June 24th.

In Edo State, the operatives conducted a raid in Ekudo forest, Uhunmwode LGA, where they destroyed a cannabis farm spanning 2.494863 hectares. They also recovered 67kg of processed weed and arrested six suspects: Onyeka Onyedinma, Monday Onyedi, Alex Eboh, Edosa Imariagbe, Godbless Tunde, and Godstime Osarobo, during the operation on Monday, June 19th.

The Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), commended the officers and personnel of the Lagos, Kogi, Niger, Kwara, Oyo, Edo, and Marine Commands for their successful efforts in preventing over five tons of illicit substances from entering circulation in the country during the past week. He urged them and their colleagues across other NDLEA formations to remain dedicated to the collective objective of eradicating substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Nigeria.
